This is a story about a quilt that had a purpose I just had to find it, a little background info first.....my husband Charles was adopted as a baby and unfortunately both of his parents passed on when he was fairly young, his Dad when he was 17 and his Mom when he was 18. When we met and married I was given the diamond rings that belonged to his great grandmother, grandmother and mother, as Jason and I began to move in I realized that there was hardly anything that belonged to his grandparent’s or parent’s except for tons of pictures, 2 sets of china and a quilt.

Well the pictures are now in albums, the china is packed away (3 rowdy boys you know) and the quilt. I felt if I used the quilt in some way it would make me feel closer to his family but what....it had bright orange, yellow and pale green flowers on a white background, well it was a little too much for the bed. This is when I found out that his great-grandmother had made this quilt so now I really wanted to use it. It has been on the couch, on the piano in a Boyd’s Bear display, under the piano in a Boyd’s display, on a quilt rack.
Then one day I thought to myself, ok which son is going to get this quilt when we pass on. I have a friend who runs a Craft Mall for vendors and I was discussing this with her and one day we were talking about the things she has made for people and it dawned on me let’s make something out of it.

We decided on bears, gee I wonder why. It was really hard to cut that quilt up but it was really important to me that all 3 boys have a piece of this family history. My friend made the bears a good seamstress I am not, but I knew I could make something out of the leftovers, I chose hearts. Those I decorate and give to people who have touched my life in some way or another and have become very special to me.

You may wonder why I am telling you this and why it is on Sally’s site. Sally has been given a pillow, along with Priscilla in the Friendship Box, my best friend for 25 years and my Mom. The quilt has found it’s purpose.
